HMN Financial, Inc., a federally chartered stock savings bank headquartered in Rochester, Minnesota.
Home Federal was originally organized in 1934 in Spring Valley, Minnesota by a group of local businessmen. They wanted to provide a source of credit for people to purchase homes, as well as a secure place to deposit savings.

In 1997, Home Federal Savings Bank acquired Marshalltown Savings and Loan Corporation in Marshalltown and Toledo, Iowa.
From its early beginning as a local hometown lender, Home Federal has evolved into a leading commercial and retail bank with nearly $1 billion in assets.
A Private Banking division, Eagle Crest Capital Bank, was opened in 2001 in Edina, and in 2002 at the company's Civic Center Drive location in Rochester.

The Bank, a federally chartered savings
association, is subject to extensive regulation and examination
by the Office of Thrift Supervision, which is the primary
regulator of all federally chartered and many state-chartered
thrift institutions. The FDIC and SEC also have some authority
to regulate the Bank.
